So it's been awhile since my last post. I'm really tired right now, so this is probably going to turn out pretty stupid. Time to ramble. Let me see, first school resumed and then went out. School is boring, so there isn't much to say there. We did go to see Othello in Singpore, which was cool. I saw a Twilight toy at a store in a mall we went to there, which was cool. My buddy was also a brony, so I think he pointed that out. We managed to get late to the bus because he slept in and I'm too passive/shy/whatever (he has a very assertive and outgoing personality in contrast to mine) to wake him up, so we got in trouble for that, but everything was okay in the end. It so happened that my family went to Singapore earlier during spring break, so we saw some of the same stuff there. Mainly I remember standing in subways, we also visited a few temples and market places and museums and gardens and crap. We did see a life performance of Chinese Classical Music by these music students at the durian shaped building, and that was cool. Speaking of weirdly shaped buildings, there is a resort there shaped like a ship on top of two towers, it was really cool. Oh, and the signs with all the fines like the ones for bringing durians were hilarious. Singapore sort of creeps me out, the citystate is like a perfect world, but hell at the same time.

So yeah, school ended, and then I had to go to work pretty much immediately afterward. I worked at the American Embassy doing tech stuff, mainly setting up a wiki for the mission. I managed to do that, even got it online, so I'm rather proud, but apparently they have done anything with it since I left, so I guess it was just meaningless work for meaningless pay. The cool thing was when I was a camp consoler for a summer camp at america for a week as part of the job, that was fun. I felt like a was rockstar. My brother started introducing rock bands by accident because of that, including the legendary Indie-as-hell band Melancholic Bitch. www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcDX4WDhhyk They were really good live, and we took a family we were sponsoring there to the performance. The space was completely packed, hundreds of people were in attendance. The performance was so notable it got an entire page in the Jakarta paper, and my brother's name was in it.

After work ended we went on vacation as a family. First went to Sydney for four days. Sydney is just an awesome city, clean and beautiful with friendly people. We helped with art projects and saw street musicians and this guy with bubbles. We toured an old prisoner barracks and rode a boat. One amazing thing at the harbor was people playing Didgeridoo-techno. The opera house is nothing. At Taronga Zoo we managed to see the cute little platypus, and lots of sleeping wombats. The Tasmanian Devils there were also cute. There was this one emu who was very friendly in the child part, it would just follow us and grunt, it tried to search our backpacks. We also saw the Blue Mountains there, the view there took my breathe away. It just makes me think that even though the world is so small it's still so big.

After Sydney we went to New Zealand for a week. At the Sydney Airport we were reunited with my sister who was away with our grandparents in the US all summer. In Auckland our dad picked up a camper van we rented, but it took him forever to find us. That camper van was hell, eight people cramped into a little place with a terrible bathroom with no lock on the door. New Zealand is a beautiful country, it looks a lot like England, except even prettier and with more palm trees, but the roads were hell. We saw Hobbiton, that was cool. We also saw this volcanic maori place. Eventually we got down to Wellington. I have a friend living there, but we failed to meet up with her. There we saw a few museums. We had kebabs one night even though we already had kebabs back in Sydney and we were supposed to eat at an Indian restaurant that night.  I hate eating the same food too many days, we ate the same sandwiches each day except when we ate at the museum in Wellington and I hated that. We did see the Weta Cave there, which was awesome, and because they were doing something special we got to see part of the actual workshop. I think I saw someone I know on deviantArt there, the person who did those fantasy sculpture things. There was this very metal guy working on digital sculptures and he let me add spikes to his horse. Afterwards we went back up to Auckland on the west coast, stopping at a glow worm cave along the way.

There afterward we went to Melbourne. The hotel we stayed at didn't have locks on the bathrooms either, but at least the toilet wasn't just sealed off with a curtain. Melbourne is an odd city with odd people, I liked it. They used skate boarding rhinos to represent yarra trams (yams?) and lot's of people had died hair. There was even a guy dressed up as a wizard there. In Melbourne we did the normal stuff we do when we visit cities, seeing museums and old buildings and stuff. We stopped at Costco while we were there. There a man on guitar was jamming with a yamaha sales man on the drums and another random guy on the key board. The tv screens at one points displayed a show with a platypus, a tasmanian devil, and lots of baby wombats, some munching on this guy's shoe laces. It also amused me to see Pony Season 1 DVDs next to The Hobbit. We stopped at an opal shop which was owned by Nick Le Souef, who is somewhat famous for his stunt work with venomous animals. There were spiders, a snake, and various lizards being kept as pets at the shop. When my parents bought an Opal for their 20th aniversary the next day I met Le Souef. After we were finished with Melbourne we drove out a long the great ocean road, stopping at numerous spots including one where we could see fairy penguins, though it was so dark and they were so small and far away their masses just looked like shadow demons. We ate at a pizza resturant where we sat at a picture of bacchus and his naked women and made butt jokes. Once again the place we were staying at there didn't have locks on the bathrooms >:( . The next morning we went to this reserve were we saw wallabies, kangeroos (including one with a joey), emus, and koalas. Some people also claimed to see an echidna.

After that we drove back to Melbourne where are flight back was. We stopped in Malaysia for a few hours, they had a funny welcoming video, and now I'm back in Jakarta. Tomorrow I have a doctor's appointment AND an orthodontist appointment, and the day afterward school starts, so life sucks. Meh. I want to be back in Australia or New Zealand.
